Jamaica’s First Para Dressage Athlete

International Grade 1 Grand Prix

Our future

2025 marks our first year representing Jamaica in the international arenas, already a first for the country. My goals for this year are to continue to excel at 3* International competitions gaining our qualification for the 2026 World Equestrian Games, and continue amplifying underrepresented voices, celebrating diversity, and proving that determination can overcome any obstacle. As the sole Para Dressage rider representing Jamaica, I’m proud to champion diversity in equestrian sport.

My equestrian journey

Began at the age of four through the RDA (Riding for the Disabled Association). What started as physiotherapy quickly became my passion. Each lesson deepened my love for horses, and for years, all I ever wanted for Christmas was my own horse. Competing at RDA Regionals and Nationals was a dream come true, as it meant extra lessons to practise. These events introduced me to the white boards and the crazy world of dressage. With seven Regional titles and six National wins, my fondest memories remain the sheer joy of riding and my desire to improve each year.

British Dressage

At 15, I stepped into the world of British Dressage. My mum and I would turn up to training days and competitions—sometimes without a horse—just to watch, learn, and soak it all in. I’d borrow horses from friends and the RDA whenever I could, but it wasn’t until I was 20 that I started competing. In this sport, having your own horse or one on loan is key to progressing, as consistency is the key to building partnerships, refining skills, and achieving success.

Finding Coco

After years of perseverance, at 21, I bought my first horse, Coco, a Trakehner Mare with the most beautiful temperament and regal personality.

Finding a suitable horse, let alone funding it yourself, is a significant challenge. It requires not just financial investment but also patience, resilience, and the right opportunities. A milestone documented in TEGAN, my Netflix-commissioned documentary, now available on YouTube.

Team GB

After achieving personal bests while competing for Team GB in 2022-2024, I made the life-changing decision to represent Jamaica on the global stage. This shift is about more than medals; it’s about amplifying underrepresented voices, celebrating diversity, and proving that determination can overcome any obstacle. As the sole Para Dressage rider representing Jamaica, I’m proud to champion diversity in equestrian sport. Through my involvement with Cool Ridings, I’ve connected with others who share my experiences. Together, we’re breaking barriers and celebrating inclusion in equestrianism.

Authenticity, community, positivity and passion.

These are the pillars of everything I do. Being true to myself and my journey is at the heart of my work. I strive to create meaningful connections, celebrate the power of togetherness, and approach every challenge with optimism and determination. I believe that passion ignites purpose, and with it comes the strength to achieve the extraordinary.

Through para dressage, podcasting, and storytelling, I hope to inspire others to dream boldly, embrace their uniqueness, and find power in their own passion.

Join my team

My ultimate goal? To qualify for the World Equestrian Games and make history for Jamaica at the 2028 LA Paralympics. To achieve this, I’m expanding my team by adding a new top-level competition horse to stand alongside my amazing partner, Stolen Kiss.
